Duet introduces Investment Analysis service
8 March 2010, Duet Partners Ltd. announced today that it has introduced a new service which provides clients with a comprehensive assessment of how their businesses are likely to be rated by different classes of prospective investor.
"Based on a hundreds of interactions with investors over the past 9 months, we have studied the typical reactions to a range of investment propositions" commented John Hall, Partner. "As a result we have created an assessment tool which captures the key issues likely to be raised by different classes of investor during the investment process. Just about every management team that we speak to asks how we think their proposition will be received by investors. Now we have the means to provide a comprehensive response that is not just anecdotal."
Proven methodology
Following the methodology employed by many leading institutional investors, each investment proposition is broken down into 4 key areas: Commercial, Financial, Organizational and Legal. Each area is examined in the context of stage and sector and then detailed feedback is provided to the client, including recommendations for remedial action and positioning. The priority of these actions is aligned with the 3 broad stages of investor interaction:
First impressions - with significant emphasis on the commercial aspects of the proposition, the essential attributes that will constitute the informal 'smell test' are examined, polished, and assembled into a highly digestible top level investment summary.
Buy-in - ensuring that the next level of detail is immediately available and in a form that can be accessed and understood by the investor. Key emphasis being on building investor confidence based on the core aspects of the business plan.
Due Diligence - in the knowledge that it is never safe to assume that this will be a routine part of the process, often being the source of costly delays, this is tackled early. Major emphasis is placed on the financial and legal aspects of the business with particular emphasis on compliance, governance, IP and other corporate matters that early stage companies often do not appreciate the significance of until it is too late!
